This week's chat

October 8, 2012 #CommsChat with Richard Torrenzano on digital assassination

Today may be Columbus Day in the United States of America, commemorating Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the Americas, but here we’re celebrating the weekly recurrence of #CommsChat Day – and tonight we’ll be joined by the chairman and CEO of the Torrenzano Group, Richard Torrenzano (tweeting from @D_Assassination).

Richard has co-authored the book Digital Assassination with Mark Davis, and will be discussing some topics related to the book as well as the broader themes of digital vulnerability and protection. You can do some more background reading on the book’s site.

Topics for this evening’s chat will include:

  • What is digital assassination?
  • How can you be digitally attacked?
  • Is this a permanent risk or something the web will evolve to deflect?
  • How can you protect yourself digitally?
  • Do organisations need to adopt different measures from individuals?

CommsChat takes place from 8-9pm (UK time – so that’s 3pm EDT) each Monday evening. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.

We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics for #CommsChat – get in touch with Molly by email or Twitter if you’ve got ideas.
