This week's chat

May 9, 2013 #Commschat on cyber security

Cyber security has become a serious issue for everyone from a Facebook account holder to a small business to the armed forces. Twitter is especially prone to hacks, both serious and humorous. Regardless of the severity, maintaining security on social media and in digital communications can impact an organisation’s reputation.

Chris Woods, digital director from Hanover, has highlighted the impact cyber security can have on a communications consultancy’s reputation and efficacy. He will join us on Monday at 8 p.m. GMT. Will you?

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Why is cyber security an important issue for communications professionals?
  • What is the impact on reputation in the event of a breach of security?
  • What does best practice in cyber security look like? Can hackers be punished?
  • How has cyber security evolved as companies now have globalised supply chains and international stakeholders?
  • Cyber security is a pressing governmental issue as well. What can the authorities do to limit crisis?
  • What other industries are impacted by cyber security?

Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place from 8-9pm UK time – for worldwide times, go here. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.
