June 19, 2017 #CommsChat on communicating in highly regulated sectors
This week on #CommsChat, we’re joined by Jax Jacøbsen, senior communications officer at the International Council of Mining and Metals, to look at highly regulated sectors and the difficulties/challenges faced by communicators working within them. We’re defining highly regulated sectors as any sector in which the potential mishandling of information would have dire consequences – so we’re looking at the communications difficulties faced by communicators, where the communication role has changed and how greater transparency can be encouraged.
The topics are:
- What role does communications play in the smooth running of regulated sector?
- How can communicators engage with their own companies to encourage greater transparency?
- How should communicators overcome the difficulty in explaining obscure/hidden industries to a non-specialist audience?
- Has the role of communicator changed? Does it change to adapt to current climates?
- What is the outlook for the future of communications in your sector?
Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place every Monday, from 8-9pm GMT. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will be posted to Storify on Tuesday morning. We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics – please get in touch with Amy at amy.sandys@communicatemagazine.co.uk or contact us on Twitter with any ideas.
