This week on #CommsChat we spoke about the use of video in internal communications. We spoke about video’s effectiveness, appropriateness and enabling user-generated content (UGC).

Here are some of the highlights:

  •  Because people like seeing authentic people like them – you can become a star in your own job
  •   It also helps ‘show’ as well as ‘tell’ reinforcing the message and ideally creating important emotional responses in the audience
  •   Cheapest isn’t always best. Make sure you set KPIs to measure success. Poor ROI can mean a false economy
  •   now it’s easy to create videos on phones and tablets. Makes an engaging and cost effective way of engaging internal audiences
  •  UGC or internally produced content can work brilliantly. Strategy and a deep understanding of video is crucial though
