This week's chat

May 20, 2013 #CommsChat with the IoIC

The programme for the Institute of Internal Communication’s (IoIC) annual conference says, “Feeling empowered is what really engages and motivates an internal audience.” Through its conference programme, it seeks to address the question of engagement and the future of internal communications.

The conference takes place this week in Bristol and will bring together the brightest minds in internal comms. On #CommsChat tonight, we’ll be joined by IoIC president Suzanne Peck (@IoICNews) to discuss the latest in IC. The topics we’ll cover are below:

  • How will engagement change when addressing audiences with shorter attention spans?
  • How can internal communicators manage an increasingly disparate workforce?
  • What role will digital and social play over the next five years in internal comms?
  • Is gamification worthwhile for internal comms?
  • Where does the balance lie between tactics and strategy in IC?
  • What can IC learn from other disciplines?

Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place from 8-9pm UK time – for worldwide times, go here. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.

We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics for #CommsChat – get in touch with Brittany by email or Twitter if you’ve got ideas.
