August 12, 2014 #CommsChat on travel and tourism
It’s almost the end of summer and like us, you’re probably on holiday or wishing you were. In honour of that, we’re running a #CommsChat all about the tourism sector. Tourism employs six times more people, globally, than does automotive manufacturing and in a lot of countries, is the primary contributor to GDP.
We’ll announce our guests in due time, but for now, here’s the topics we’ll cover:
- Does rebranding a tourism board actually matter? What are successful strategies for marketing in the sector?
- What impact does digital and technology have on tourism? Do thinks like Airbnb detract from hoteliers’ business or simply encourage more people to travel?
- What role should public tourism agencies play in encouraging travel and engaging with local and international businesses operating in their country or region?
- What obstacles to travel company #IC pros face when dealing with employees around the world?
- How can travel and tourism companies ensure the experience and brand loyalty created with holidaymakers continues after the holiday is over?
Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place from 8-9pm UK time – for worldwide times, go here. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.
We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics for #CommsChat – get in touch with Brittany by email or Twitter if you have any ideas.
