July 23, 2017 #CommsChat on getting back to basics with comms

Sometimes the world of comms can seem to confusing – too much tech, too much jargon, always reliant on the internet. But what if we went ‘back to basics?’ That is exactly what the organisers of the first ever Comms Unplugged, taking place September 15-16, aim to achieve – and they’re joining us on 24 July for #CommsChat. Sally,
Georgia and Darren join us to chat about taking a breath and stepping back from the wonders of modern communication, to really appreciate how face-to-face strategies can be just as, if not more, effective. This is as well as generating positivity and workplace wellbeing, and looking at old skills communicators may have lost in the age of digital and screens.

The topics are:

  • Why is time offline so important? How can communicators go back to basics?
  • What can communicators do to tackle issues of stress and workplace wellbeing?
  • With which core skills should communicators be reacquainted? Have the basics been lost?
  • What can communicators learn from different sectors?
  • How can going ‘back to basics’ help develop face-to-face relationships? Why is this important?

Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place every Monday, from 8-9pm GMT. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will be posted to Storify on Tuesday morning. We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics – please get in touch with Amy at amy.sandys@communicatemagazine.co.uk or contact us on Twitter with any ideas.
