March 8, 2019 #CommsChat on flattery vs forgery
Brand protection is a necessary element of managing a company and its reputation. Where is the line drawn between flattery and forgery? Can others imitate or elevate a brand that is not their own without impinging on another company’s reputation? More on this week’s #CommsChat.
- Is any form of brand imitation acceptable? Why or why not?
- Do brands that use another brand’s assets out of flattery, but maybe without permission, cross a line?
- What should a PR person or brand owner do if this occurs?
- How should companies look out for their reputation’s protection online?
- Can consensual collaborations end poorly if mismanaged? How do you avoid that happening?
