September 25, 2017 #CommsChat on ethics in PR and comms

On Monday’s #CommsChat we’ll welcome Francis Ingham MPRCA, director general of the PRCA and chief executive of the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO), to discuss ethics in PR and comms. Following the expulsion of Bell Pottinger from the PRCA due to malpractice, we’ll look at best practice for in-house and agency ethics, and how trade bodies such as the PRCA can help implement it. We’ll also discuss shaping an ethical culture from the inside out, and what the PR industry has learned given recent event. Follow @CommsChat on Twitter and use the hashtag #CommsChat to get involved.

The topics are:

  • What is best practice for ethics in PR? Does the standard differ between in-house and agency?
  • What role do trade bodies play in setting the ethical standard?
  • How can a culture of ethics be cultivated within an organisation?
  • Should there be mandatory courses on ethics for comms/PR professionals?
  • What should the consequences be for not pertaining to expected ethical standards?

Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place every Monday, from 8-9pm GMT. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will be posted to Storify on Tuesday morning. We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics – please get in touch with Amy at amy.sandys@communicatemagazine.co.uk or contact us on Twitter with any ideas.
