March 1, 2013 #CommsChat on corporate social media strategy
On Friday, the Holy See’s much lauded foray into social media – the @Pontifex account, deleted all of Pope Bendict XVIs tweets. The Vatican has said that its deletion of the tweets reflects the fact that the papacy is currently vacant.
In this week’s #CommsChat we’ll be joined by Sean King (@seancontentking), CEO of Seven, to look at the role leadership plays in a company’s social media. Twitter has garnered a lot of ire by company’s this month as HMV, Burger King and Tesco have all had crises to deal with, large or small. Take a look at the topics below and join in on #CommsChat on Monday night:
- Why is the deletion of the @Pontifex tweets relevant to the Vatican’s social media strategy?
- Would or has a departing CEO’s tweets be deleted in the same manner?
- How much of a role should top-level leadership play in social media?
- Should CEOs tweet from their companies accounts? From their own?
- What role should CEOs take in their company’s social media strategy in the future?
Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place from 8-9pm UK time – for worldwide times, go here. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.
We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics for #CommsChat – get in touch with Brittany by email or Twitter if you’ve got ideas.
