July 23, 2012 #CommsChat on CommsCopyright, 23 July
Tonight on #CommsChat, we’re marking last week’s launch of CommsCopyright, an online hub for the discussion of copyright and intellectual property issues in corporate communications.
CommsCopyright.com, which is a collaborative project between users, experts, and Communicate magazine, is advised by an panel of copyright experts. We’ll be joined by two of them tonight: Steve Kuncewicz, head of legal at Boohoo.com, and Lilach Bullock, social media consultant and founder of Socialable.co.uk.
Topics that we’ll address tonight include:
- Why is it so crucial for communicators to have a grasp of copyright issues?
- Are normal internet users currently at risk of copyright infringement?
- Are stronger copyright laws needed by UK business?
- What are the copyright issues surrounding social media, particularly new platforms such as Pinterest?
- And, given that there are just a few days to go before the opening ceremony, have draconian copyright regulations around the Olympics harmed the reputation of London 2012?
#CommsChat takes place every Monday evening on Twitter from 8 to 9pm (UK time). You can take place here, or simply search in Twitter for the hashtag. A transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.
Everyone is welcome to take part in #CommsChat and we look forward to hearing your opinions. And we’d love to hear your suggestions for upcoming topics – what should we be covering? Tweet us or email Molly Pierce.
