October 17, 2014 #CommsChat on charities’ use of social media
#IceBucketChallenges and #NoMakeupSelfies come and go and campaigns like #Stoptober and #Movember gain traction every autumn. What makes these campaigns travel around the world so quickly? Do they achieve what they set out to? We’ll answer these, and other questions on Monday’s #commschat.
Topics include:
- How do charity and lifestyle campaigns gain prominence? What makes them go viral?
- Do actually they make a difference for the charity or organisation?
- What are the best platforms for getting these messages across?
- Do they create more engagement than traditional offline campaigns (like Red Sweater Day)?
- Do campaigns like this mean charities are making changes in their social/digital comms?
- Do they have to originate from a charity or can they be grassroots-driven?
Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place from 8-9pm UK time – for worldwide times, go here. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will go up on Tuesday morning.
We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics for #CommsChat – get in touch with Brittany by email or Twitter if you have any ideas.
