October 14, 2013 #CommsChat on brand packaging
This month, Nestle and Cadbury have headed back to the courts to fight for the right to use the colour purple. This has sparked a slew of branding experts butting heads over the relevance of certain attributes to a brand. Tonight on #CommsChat, we’ll host the great packaging debate with Barbra Wright, director of consumer brand identity & packaging at Dragon Rouge (@woodandwarrior), and Hamish Campbell, creative director at Pearlfisher (@pearlfisherlive).
Topics
- Should a company be able to trademark a colour or shape or the like?
- Why is packaging important in the food and drink sector?
- What impact does colour have on a brand?
- What determines reputation in the sector?
- Does a court battle have an impact on reputation?
- How does the changes to own-brand packaging in moving closer to on-brand put pressure on brands?
