April 9, 2014 #CommsChat on advertising standards
The Advertising Standards Authority, and the regulations surrounding advertising in Britain and the EU, present considerable challenges to agencies and brands. This week, on #CommsChat, we’ll explore the issues these regulations present and how companies can work within them to produce excellent branded content.
Topics include:
- What are some cases of ASA interference in an ad campaign? How did it affect the brand’s message, if at all?
- In what ways are regulations justified? How does the ASA help consumers make better choices and brands consider their messaging more?
- What sectors are most restricted (Healthcare, food and drink, etc)? Why?
- What impact does misleading messaging have on brand communications/reputation?
- What can brands do to work with government on understanding and/or changing regulations?
