#CommsChat on personal branding

This week's chat

We’re back! For our first #CommsChat back after the summer break, we’ll welcome Kerry Sheehan to talk about personal branding – the good, the bad, and the undeniable. We’ll look at what communicators view as a personal brand, why it could be considered so important, and how the concept has – or perhaps hasn’t – flourished in the digital age. We’ll also look at personal branding in the context of employee-employer relationships, and what our followers think makes a strong personal brand. Follow @CommsChat on Twitter and use the hashtag #CommsChat to get involved.

The topics are:

  • Do you have a personal brand? What’s its most important part?
  • How does a personal brand differ from a CV?
  • Is the concept of a personal brand the outcome of the social media/digital age?
  • Some leading figures, including Sheryl Sandberg, say ‘no’ to a personal brand. Is Sheryl right?
  • Can you fix the mismatch between personal brand expectation and reality with employers? How?
  • What are your top tips for creating a lasting, authentic personal brand?

Join us! We tweet from @CommsChat and #CommsChat takes place every Monday, from 8-9pm GMT. Anyone can take part in the discussion – simply follow the hashtag here or on Twitter. If you can’t make the chat or would like to revisit it, a transcript will be posted to Storify on Tuesday morning. We’d love to hear your suggestions for future topics – please get in touch with Amy at amy.sandys@communicatemagazine.co.uk or contact us on Twitter with any ideas.

Transcript of #CommsChat on measuring IC

This week's chat

After our most popular ever #CommsChat poll, this week on #CommsChat we looked at metrics and measurement in internal comms. We asked why measurement is so important and how factors such as remote workforces can affect outcomes. We also discussed methods used to measure internal communication engagement level and what our followers think are the best examples of metrics and frameworks for measuring IC.
