This week's chat

This week on #CommsChat, we’re joined by Dr Paul Jones, senior engagement consultant at York-based employee engagement specialists, Karian and Box. We’ll be looking at the idea of internal communications on a shoestring, how companies make their money go further and what budgets should focus on in order to maximise profits. We’ll also examine how insight can guides money saving and the most effective way to use the client-agency relationship.

The topics are:

  • What should be prioritised when cutting an internal comms budget?
  • Should the focus for low budgets be lots of low-cost activity, or producing less high-quality content?
  • What produces a disproportionate return for your money? (E.g. supporting leaders as storytellers, managers as communicators)
  • Can insight guide cost-effective comms? (E.g. audience segmentation, channel preference, key engagement levers)
  • How do you show the return on investment for comms? What convinces key stakeholders?
  • What is the best way to spend with agencies?
